Guilderland Central High School
Class Of 1970
Wayne Peper
Leaving Guilderland HS was preceded by my mother dying in the Spring of 1968. After which I wound up finishing HS at Linton after attending Shaker and Shenendehowa in a short period of time. Not the best of years. Attended HVCC. Quit early and went into construction. I became a glass mechanic and specialized in aluminum storefront and glass fabrication and installation. I married in 1974 and my wife and I settled in Schodack and raised 3 children. I still live in the area and have a buisness in Scotia. (Precision Glass & Alum.) I am a subcontractor on the work that is currently going on at Guilderland High School and it sparked my curiosity and wondered what everyone was up to.
My wife & I enjoy traveling, having dinner with friends on the weekends. Got back on 2 wheels and bought a Harley back in 2004. Got the green light from my wife now that the kids were grown. Since then we have taken full advantage of our new hobby and have enjoyed great trips. North rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park. Last year we shipped the bike to Masulo Montana along with 5 other couples and headed north through Glazier Natilonal Park, Waterton National Park, Lake Louise all the way up to Banff BC Canada. Frosting on the cake was driving back Trans Canada 1 all the way back home. It was a trip of a life time. I think God chipped a little piece of heaven off and dropped it in the northern Rockies. This year the trip is already planned for TN and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Locally you can find us taking the bike for a spin on a hot summer night to Saratoga with my wife and friends. Another thing we enjoy is frequent visits to our kids in which two of them live in Boston and one in Tampa FL,(Our 3 grandkids help with the decision to make frequent trips). Our two sons and daughter each have successful buisness careers after completing college and getting their degrees. Life has been good to me after a rough start, I have no complaints and have been blessed with a strong marriage, great family, good health, great friends and the means to enjoy what life offers.
LOL,,, that could be painful... however.... I do remember sitting next to Gordon Perlie, (don't know if I am butchering his last name, he was an upper classman taking this class over) in Miss Dodge's Biology class. This would have been uneventful except it all broke loose when he hurled a large paper spitball over her left shoulder while her back was turned and landed on the chaulk board. Laughing so hard I turning to look at Gordon sitting there like nothing happened. Wow, what control, Of course I got blamed for it seeings how I was laughing so hard and wound up getting thrown out of the class. I really didn't care at that point. Its been over 40 years and thinking of it and telling the story still makes me laugh. OH.... and by the way,, I really hated Mr. Lassell in the 9th grade, I think most of the guys did.
