Diane Richardson Byrne

Got married to John Byrne (Class of '68) in 1975, moved to Gr. Sacandaga Lake in '76 and have lived ever since. We love it all seasons. Built country furniture (repros) and made collectible teddy bears which allowed us to grow up with our sons. Currently working part time in two small surrounding towns as Planning/Zoning secretary and accounts clerk. Have had a great life - you can't blast me out of the Adirondacks.

Spare time? Question should be what would you do if you had spare time. Seriously, do a lot of gardening both vegetable and perennials. Enjoy the beach - fish - hike - bird watching. Nature in general - hard not to get into that here.

Driver ed class with my good childhood friend, Anne Murphy (Class of '69). Annie was not a good driver and could not do the hand over hand with the steering but drove the car like an airplane. Mr. Ryan was always kidding her about that and her abrupt turns. So she did the airplane turn into the school driveway at the end of class and did it very sharply. Mr. Ryan let his body go limp and fell against Annie. Next thing we knew we on the school lawn and every kid in cafeteria study hall was pressed against the windows. We were crying we were laughing so hard but poor Annie...

Note: For those who knew Annie Murphy - she passed away in February 2019 and left the message for friends and relatives: "Goodbye. What a wonderful time it has been." Always classy - poignant - wonderful childhood and high school friend. She will be greatly missed.
