Can't believe its been this long since I've touched base with anyone from back home. I left in May of 1971 for Ft Ord, California and except for a couple of short visits or funerals, I've never returned. Six years in the Army (Infantry) ... Ord, Benning, Korean DMZ, Riley, Arlington, and The Pentagon. Blest to meet my wife Carol when we were both assigned in Washington D.C. I decided to get out after our first daughter Shaynee was born and we left for Pueblo, Colorado (Carol's hometown). Carol and I have two daughters and are celebrating our thirty fifth this year.

Carol and I graduated from University of Southern Colorado in 1981 - Carol with a BA in Elementary Reading and me with a BS in Mathematics. We both began teaching that fall (Who would have thought ... Brainard a HS Math teacher and coach). In 1984 I earned an MA in Secondary Education and an MA in School Administration in 1989. While working in K-12 school districts in Colorado Springs, Canon City, and Pueblo, I also served as an adjunct faculty member for Adams State College, the University of Northern Colorado, and Colorado State University - Pueblo in the areas of school administration, educational statistics & assessment, and school law.

Carol retired in 2006 and I followed in 2007 after 26 years in Public Ed - HS Teacher, MS & HS Principal, and finally as Executive Director for Assessment and Research. Both of our daughters have followed in our steps, Shaynee as a HS English teacher and Kimberly as a HS Math teacher.

After serving as a consultant for the Colorado Department of Education's Unit of Assessment for a year, I was approached and agreed to be the principal for a small Catholic School of about 150 students. I'm having more fun now than I've had in a long time, especially now that my granddaughter is a Kindergartener this year at St. Therese.

I'm looking forward to going back for the reunion and hope to see many of you in September.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Beyond the typical - taking care of the house, car, and dogs - I've become an avid Star Trek fan. I keep my eyes open for the AMT models from the series or movies (AMT stopped producing them several years ago). If you know of any available let me know.
